Intentional Living

Usually, around this time of the year, we realize that reaching our intended goals may not be as easy as we thought. Something derails us, or we just can’t stick with our work-out schedule, diet or other new habit. At this point, you can still be successful by taking small actions. We should be intentional consistently on a daily basis—in our choices, actions and thoughts.

Here are some steps you can take to be more intentional…

  • What do you want this year to bring? Fast forward to December and imagine what your life will look like if you really took advantage of every day. What would you like to happen? What would you look like? Which parts of your life will improve—health, finances, career, family…? Get specific.
  • Once you have created this image in your mind, write it down. Write down everything that will change. Write down how you will feel; how you will look, and what you will see around you. Now ask yourself WHY you want these changes in your life. Dig deep.
  • When you go to bed at night, ask yourself, ‘what did I do today to move closer to my goals? Make sure that you have accomplished at least one thing, no matter how small. Consistency is key.
  • Remember that being busy doesn’t mean that you are being intentional. Just because you are busy doesn’t always mean you are getting closer to your goals. Make sure you are doing the right things.
  • Ask yourself ‘why’ a lot. When you set a goal; when you make a decision; when you set your priorities. Make sure you are clear about why you are doing this.
  • Use your subconscious mind to your advantage. Keep reminding yourself what the end product will be. Keep your vision top of mind with a vision board. Tell yourself everyday why you deserve this and why it is so important to you. Believe that you will succeed.
  • Keep taking action! No matter what. Even if you hit a roadblock.

Intentional living creates meaning and purpose in your life. Living an intentional life will make you feel empowered, stronger and happier than you have ever felt. You will be challenged, but you will also be equipped to handle it. Have faith in yourself and know that you can have the life you want. So, live, dream, do, and enjoy!
